Abstract: Spectra and E2 transition rates for the eveneven 142-164Dy isotopes are studied in the framework of the interacting boson model. A schematic Hamiltonian capable of describing their spectra and transition is used. It is found that the eveneven 142-164Dy isotopes are in the transition from U(5)to SU(3) dynamical symmetry.
